HOW TO SPEAK AS A CHRISTIAN

This will help increase your walk with God.

You know that God, after created, worked and rested — and, He wants us to do these things too, in a way that honours Him alone. 
Now, we will be exploring how we can honour God through our speech. Let’s start by looking at the way God speaks to us.

How God Speaks to us

God spoke his words and the world came into being (Genesis 1).  His words created light, trees, animals, seas, and birds.  His words built the earth and everything in it.  In Genesis 1:26 (NIV) He says “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…”  In other words, He made humans to reflect aspects of the Trinity – God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  The Trinity communicates; for example, Jesus prayed to God, tell us what the Father wants. 

God, clearly to his children speaks, using words to make many good things, and to communicate with people today through the Bible.  Humans can speak and made for relationships because we are made in the image of God. This means talking plays an important roles in our lives. So, how do you and I reflect God in the way we make use of the choice of words we use?

When we speak

We can also show God's love in our daily living by being creative and using our minds, our bodies and even our words to show His goodness..  This is the same for the words we say and write.  Jesus used language to  share His good news through the time he stayed on earth.  When we use language positively to love and cheer others up and to worship God, we glorify God’s image and likeness at a time.

Although, as youths, it can be difficult to always make sure we are speaking encouraging words and easier to use abusive and offensive words.  every time we make evil speeches, it makes God feel unhappy, other people and ourselves likewise.  Here are some thoughts on how we can speak with grace rather than hurtfully.

What you fill thyself with matters too…

Life has this special treatment. Maybe you have been hearing that the kind of music you listen to, the movies you watch, the friends you chill out with, the kind of books you read, will shape the way you act.  check and you will be able to know whether this is true in your life or not.  Often, these do shape how we act and speak. Anyone who loves to read love story-books, will eventually fall in love with every fly that passes by.  So, before you start reading, listening or watching something, here are things you should watch out for:

3. Listen to
can affect how you speak and react to others.  If you want to use your words to build others up and worship God, it would help to look at the books, shows, movies and music you love and see if they are going to promote good language and positive communication.  You don’t have to only read Christian books alone or throw out half of your movie collection.  But try to read, listen to and watch things that are likely to get you using loving Christian words. Challenge yourself to speak positively and avoid unnecessary argument. A little silent will do when you are short of the right word to use at the moment.

Will God forgive me for all the dirty words I have used in the past?

If you realise you've been using words that are sinful or capable of hurting another person or even God, instead of sitting down feeling sorry, or killing yourself with guilt, why not ask for forgiveness from God and those you may have hurt with your words.  After all, God, out of his love,  sent His Son Jesus Christ to die in our place so that we may be forgiven from sin.  So, when you sin against God or your fellow man in your speech, repent, ask for forgiveness immediately, don't feel too big to ask, remember that God does and will forgive, and consider how to use more God-honouring language in your next conversation. Our prayer for you is that you will find rest in eddy side as God, who started this good work in you will bring it to perfection.
